Video Viral Marketing - Asking People Random Questions

If you want to quickly become one of the most popular YouTube broadcasters on the Internet, consider asking people random questions for fun. Read the following guide on how to establish yourself as a successful comic guerilla videographer, and you'll be publishing comical video clips on the internet in no time.

What is Comic Guerilla Videography?

Everyone has seen them - the hilarious 30 to 60 second video clip on YouTube that people forward around through email. Whether it's the dancing baby from several years ago, or crazy video clips of skateboarders falling and crushing various body parts, guerilla videography is becoming one of the hottest new trends on the Internet.

According to the marketing experts at ViralManager, video clips represent one type of viral marketing material with the highest level of effectiveness. Second only to interesting "microsites," 45% of marketers reported "great results" when they used video clips as part of their marketing efforts. Only 39 percent of marketers reported the same results for online games, and only 29 percent for e-mail marketing. Comedy is the most effective marketing technique, because people are much more likely to forward on a funny clip. This is why creating comical video clips by asking people on the street random questions would provide excellent marketing material for any company or website.

Equipment and Software Needed

Creating your own videos is very easy. All you need is a personal video recorder. A digital one would be ideal, but a VHS recorder will also work fine. You simply need to connect the VHS camcorder to your computer through a converter, such as DVD Xpress, available at most electronics stores. Additionally, you will need some form of video editing software. These can range in price from thirty dollars up to hundreds of dollars. However, keep in mind you don't need to create premium quality videos, so mid-range software under $100 would work fine.

How to Ask Random Questions Without Getting Punched

This part may take a lot of guts, but it's very simple. Stand on any busy street, or any location where there are a lot of people simply strolling, and start approaching people for interviews. It would be ideal if you had a friend who would be willing to handle the camera, otherwise you may need to set it up on a tripod.

The ideal approach is to walk up to people and say, "Hi, I'm {state your name}, and I'm interviewing people as part of a school research project to test the general knowledge level of the public. Can I ask you just a couple simple trivia questions?"

Most people are more than happy to help with research, in the name of science, however they will not be expecting the sort of questions you will be asking them. The secret is to come up with the most insane and ridiculous questions, simply to get a funny reaction from people.

For example, after they say, "Yes, sure." You thank them, glance down at your notes, and then look them straight in the eyes (hopefully the camera is zoomed on their face), and you ask, "Is it biologically possible for women to grow hair in their ears?" Another question might be, "In what year did the War of 1912 take place?" Once you ask enough people silly questions, you'll have gathered a good number of very funny reactions.

Uploading your Videos to YouTube

Once you've loaded your video onto your computer, all you need to do is cut the parts that are the funniest and paste them together in an audio/video sequence that's about 30 to 60 seconds long. Make sure to add any brand or website that you want to promote in one of the lower corners of the video. Save this file in MP3 format, and then upload it to YouTube using the simple YouTube "Uploader."

Once your video is ready, start emailing friends and family and ask them to pass it along. Before you know it, your hilarious viral marketing videos of you asking strangers random questions will be a huge viral hit.

LiveScience.com - A smelly rotten-egg gas in farts controls blood pressure in mice, a new study finds. The unpleasant aroma of the gas, called hydrogen sulfide (H2S), can be a little too familiar, as it is expelled by bacteria living in the human colon and eventually makes its way, well, out. The new research found that cells lining mice's blood vessels naturally make the gas and this action can help keep the rodents' blood pressure low by relaxing the blood vessels to prevent hypertension (high blood pressure). ...
