Some Thoughts About Retirement

This article is about my thoughts on retirement.

What is retirement? Retirement is the phase in advanced adult age life where one stops working. Different people have different views and attitudes of retirement. Some people view retirement is the end of a journey. However, some view retirement as the start of a new and more exciting phase in life. Also, retirees are in all states of health too. It may be important to stay active during retirement for health benefits.

Accommodation and living circumstance also varies greatly among retirees. Some retirees live with their children or relatives. This is more prevalent in Asian societies. On the other hand, some live in assisted living communities. However, not all retirees and elderly person want and like to live in assisted living communities. There are communities that offers independent retirement living.

This retirement planning important? Yes, it is extremely important.

The earlier a person starts retirement planning, the better it is. One very important point to take note is that the money for retirement must not be used until retirement age is reached. This is to prevent the depletion of funds resulting from the failure to save enough for the old age. Different countries may have different retirement schemes for their citizens.

Additionally, it is important to also put aside additional funds for medical purposes and expenses. An appropriate insurance scheme may be ideal too. Very often, our health deteriorates with advanced age and thus medical expenses must be factored into one's retirement plan.

Well, that is all for the article on retirement. These are just my personal thoughts. Thanks for reading.
